The environmental aspects play more and more important role in an economic life of the society. One aspect the Classics did not see clearly in the context of the stationary state. This paper explores implications of the introduction of the land degradation into the concept of the classical stationary state. The calorie model is used to model the dynamics of the stationary state. Several new theorems are derived in the paper. The variables of interest are interdependent. The dynamics of the stationary state is, hence, conditional. The stationary state is more sensitive to the land degradation under contemporary conditions than to the population growth. This explains its increasing role in economic policy and economic discussions.en
